My Story..

Okay, so we all know how ENORMOUS student debt can become in a very short amount of time. My story is not much different from any other college student out there, and I currently possess $39,000 in student loans and will be adding to that if I continue on to my Master's in Psychology.

So, you may be asking yourself why you should contribute to helping me? Here is my story...

The beginning..

I was born to a 17-year-old single mother, who worked two jobs and finished school to try and provide me with a better life. Unfortunately, by the age of 3 my mother was killed in a horrific car accident which left me orphaned. I was raised by my grandmother after that, and she struggled for years trying to provide me with all of the things my mom wanted me to have.

The Middle...

As a teenager, I was very head-strong. I believed that I knew what was best for me, and after a mission trip to San Francisco I felt that I needed to be there. So, after high school I began my journey. The day after graduation, I moved to San Francisco and began to attend San Francisco State University as a Psychology major. Shortly thereafter, I repeated history and became pregnant at 17 with my first child. I struggled to hold down 2 jobs while pregnant and going to school full-time. Unfortunately, I had to give up school so that I could provide for my first son. So, at 18 I dropped out of college and moved back to Houston to raise my son alone. When my son was 10 months old, his father was murdered in San Leandro, CA. To this day, the case has never been solved....

After some tumultuous years of being temporarily homeless and fighting my way back to the top I met my husband Julio. Around the same time, I began my coursework in the University of Phoenix. My husband and I had two more children, and we are happier then we have ever been!

The Future...

I strongly believe that my life experiences thus far have provided me unique preparation to give back to society. In the field of Psychology and Social Work, further education is needed to succeed; however, my family responsibilities and my current student load is becoming overwhelming. Without more education, I cannot utilize my life experiences to assist those who possess a similar struggle. As such, I am asking the social media community to assist me in raising money to pay for my education.

A little goes a long way, and with the help of my family, friends, and social circles it is my hope that I will be able to achieve my dreams!

Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and if you have any other questions then please feel free to ask or comment. You can reach me at evamariesegovia@gmail.com or comment here. I will keep the page updated to reflect the progress I make toward my goal..and to thank each individual who has agreed to help me!!

THANKS AGAIN!
